Megan and The Guy:
Megan and I have been friends for several years, and since the day I met her, she’s been in a bad relationship. First there was the guy that constantly borrowed money from her, then there was the one that only called when he was lonely and wanted to get drunk and sleep with her. Worse yet, he would shoo her out the door as soon as it was over! I, personally, can not imagine putting up with that, but Megan just kept going back. She was positive that there had to be something more between them. Sadly, there wasn’t, and the douchebag made it painfully clear. She had a string of one night stands, and bums that went no where.

There was one guy she thought was different though. They had been childhood friends, but nothing more. He had a crush on her but decided nothing would ever come of it and chose to just remain friends. She even made the comment to me that she “Could never be attracted to him in that way” Then, one night, when Megan was really lonely and down on herself, she had the bright idea to call this guy and tell him they should start dating. The rest is history: they married in a radio station mass wedding. He, being the anti-social jerk he is, was angry that she wanted to dance at their wedding and shoved cake in her hair. (In front of all the guests) He hasn’t changed since. He is a sorry provider, husband, and friend.

Then came the day he was told he had a rare disease. He would have to have regular treatments, plenty of prescriptions, and would not be able to work again. He has taken full advantage of the situation: he lazes around all day, doesn’t clean house, contribute in any way, and takes Megan for granted. She works and struggles to pay bills, he ignores her. She expected to have a husband/wife relationship, she was wrong. It has become obvious that he has no interest in her other than nurse and maid. Megan is stuck in a sad situation: leave him and look like she’s deserting him, or stay and suffer. I worry about Megan often. She has become so depressed and has no real drive to her at all. She can’t go out with friends, she doesn’t care about her appearance, she doesn’t even care about her relationship with “the guy” anymore. So does anyone have some advice for Megan, I’m so out of ideas!
